Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast hold A World of Stories

The Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast held a day-long program called A World of Stories on Feb. 9.

According to a girl scout release, "During the event, the museum came to life for the Girl Scouts as they traveled around the world to hear stories from different times and cultures. The Girl Scouts heard songs and stories from the American Civil War, learned how slaves coming to the New World held on to their culture through their stories and learned how quilts may have been used as code for the Underground Railroad. At the end of the day, the Girl Scouts welcomed special guest Stacy Cordery, author of 'Juliette Gordon Low: The Remarkable Founder of the Girl Scouts,' who shared stories from her book, answered questions from Girl Scouts and held a book signing."

The Mariners Museum is at 100 Museum Drive, Newport News.
